And there is no southerly...
Wow Auckland you really turned it on for us yesterday.
We were up at 5am for the redye flight to the big smoke and yes, it is still a tad chilly at that hour in the deep South... However the tropical breezes and gentle palms (and some fairly crazy traffic it has to be said) greeted us on arrival!
The lovely Charlotte on the BFM Morning Glory Show could not have been more accomodating and we enjoyed a good interview and got to play Pedro and Blood is Holy live to air. It has to be said Blood is Holy still surprises the radio folk with its dramatic ending. MUCH FUN.
A leisurely lunch and a wee shop-up in Ponsonby helped get us in to the rhythm and recharged the batteries for our sound check at the Dogs Bollix, before we dashed off to our drive interview on KIWI FM with the inimitable Wallace Chapman. We had quite a few laughs trying to all squeeze into the voice booth at KIWI to do our promo for Porchlight as KIWI FM CD of week and it will certianly be an interesting one. Thanks for your patience guys...
Wallace, as always hit us up with some interesting questions and then we played Sippin Blues and Away (BTW Wallace your Back Benches show on TVNZ7 is a winner!)
Back in the van (go aircon!) we beetled it out to Auntie Gays for a well deserved sit down and some lovely kai. The Colonel didn't let us rest though and soon we were back in the van en route to the Dogs Bollix.
What can we say...? The gig was AMAZING -all you lovely Auckland peeps who came out to see us -it was awesome! Our pals Forbidden Joe played beautifully and set the scene for a really good night. It was a real treat for a venue known mainly as a rock venue, to instead shine from the acoustic warmth inside - it was stunning, and Colin our soundman did a stirling job. It was great to see Roger from the Auckland Folk Club, who handed Erin our Tui in February, and so many other lovely people. Thanks also to gorgeous Rachel from Warner Music and ex-Gestalt Switch, for helping.
A trip to the golden arches (even in Auckland there are not many great late at night food options....) led to the way home and a blissful sleep zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Onward to points North....
