Outram Mardis Gras and Southland sushi...

What a magic night at Outram School's Mardi Gras, the weather was amazing, the bargains incredible (Mondo grass for a buck!!), the food delicious and of course our favourite tipple, Emersons, chilled to perfection. Erin bought out her new guitar. People please cast your eyes on the wonder that is Petit Prue.
A new benchmark was set in Outram for school fundraisers and community projects - it was a real pleasure to be part of it. So here we are with our groovy Arts on Tour van about to head south...(complete with stowaway)

Ahhhh Riverton - the Riviera of the South and it lived up it's reputation. The day and night was warm and beautiful in every way - especially the people. Alas however, not the fish and chips. Lisa warned us not to go there, so did the mysterious man with the beard - but no, we did. Even the seagulls seemed unimpressed with the bin offerings. Traveling tip #1 - if the locals tell you not to go somewhere - don't go!!

This was our second time in Riverton playing at the superb Riverton Community Arts Centre and what a magic night it was. Thanks to Lisa and Co. for having us and to the wonderful audience - you guys were brilliant.
Big thanks also to the lovely folk at the Globe Backpackers looking after us - it's a great place to stay.

We also have to let you know about the lovely Cazna who owns Mrs Clark's Cafe on the main street. People the food and coffee are uber delicioso and fabulous service. Traveling tip #2 - if you are in Riverton eat here!  Unfortunately we didn't get time to try her  Southland sushi... next time!!

We did however get to try Gore Sushi at the place we like to call home in Gore - H&J's. Here's their version - blimmin gorgeous they were too.

No luck at the Savation Army op shop this trip - always worth a gander though, however a trip to the ablutions at the Library saw us load up with the best bargain books - a Nina Simone autobiography for $1 - bargain!! Spotted some nice cars too but didn't sell enough cd's to get one each, maybe next trip.

Time for a nap  then back on the road to Wanaka and up the Coast!! Cheerio
